Dear Horticulture For Healing loving friends,
We have some quick updates for you and various news to share:
1) We are now an official 501(c) (3) non profit public charity organization. This helps Horticulture For Healing gain acceptance to grants as well as giving donors the option to tax deduct their contributions made to Horticulture For Healing.
A HUGE thanks to Pam L. a beautiful woman who helped fund the payment for the IRS application. We are truly honored and grateful to have received generous support from an individual who wants to help recovering women unite and begin their inner healing. Also another huge thanks to a board member for donating their time to help successfully get an official donation page up and running on our website. I could not have accomplished this without help from these individuals. As I get ready to send this out I received two more of our very first donations, Thank you Joel B and Jen P. For your contributions! I am honored that people are interested, invested and wanting to help Horticulture For Healing reach as many recovering women as we can.
2) Published one new article/post : Healing my inner teenage self through reading 1990s Grrrl Zines . Check it out : )
I am in the process of applying to Horticulture For Healing’s first grant. The See Beautiful grant, submissions due June 15th.
3) Horticulture For Healing is ready to start fundraising and our donation page is up and running. To be honest, I didn’t know if this organization was going to get to this point, becoming a registered 501 c 3 and fundraising didn’t seem possible, only a few months ago. I cannot believe HFH is finally at this stage of the organization building process. It has been challenging and rewarding experience thus far. There were days where I wanted to give up, feeling low and lacking direction and inner fire. Mainly feeling this way through this pandemic, a lot of confusion and uncertainty. Now the going race/equality/ justice/police brutality protests are lighting my fire to push forward with this organization. Society and the system is beginning a desperately needed shift. The voices of the people will be heard .
Marginalized women in addiction recovery need empowerment, support, and resources now more than ever. This planet is sick and it desperately needs empowered, strong, recovering women with diverse backgrounds, who are overcoming adversity to come into power. Words of a dear friend come to mind as we discussed the protests: Our entire system is flawed, from police, to jobs, healthcare, education system, and how we treat mental health in this country. It needs to be broken down so that changes can be made . The earth needs women of the world to unite so that we can have a healthier planet and in turn a healthier humanity, NOW more than ever before. This is the time to support women who are learning how to own their life, claim their value, beauty, and inner self love.
OK, that’s all for now. Thank you for your support.
