Feminism is not a movement aimed at destroying men, but aimed at destroying the patriarchal ideas cemented in society. Feminism is not about oppressing men, but challenging the status quo to stop oppressing women. Feminism is not aimed at making men lesser than women, but at improving the status of being a woman so that she is equal to man.
My mission for this organzaion is based off of true feminist ideals. Some of my writing may give individuals who haven’t yet been presented with an opportunity to become educated on feminism, the feeling that I am excluding men and genders other than female. The definition of feminism has crossed my mind more than a few times while writing the content for Horticulture For Healing’s website and social media. I felt that I needed to voice my thoughts and explain that because Horticulture For Healing as a strong desire to collaborate and partner with all to decolonize and help provide radical ways to change our conditioned thinking patterns. This means that we need all to be empowered to become feminists and contribute to breaking down the patriarchal and racist ideals this country and others are built on.
Horticulture For Healing wished to include all in the Horticulture For Healing community who possess the desire to support, learn, understand the value in investing in underserved and under represented communities so everyone can experience the opportunity to become confident, discover their voice, their inherent connection to the natural world, and own their strength and power. The more people who can access these powerful thought provoking ideals the greater chance we have of eventually improving the health of the planet and a sustainable future of humanity.
I possess a strong desire to pass on what was freely given to me when I began uniting with women on my recovery journey. I have gained strength and inspiration to become an advocate for myself and to use my voice. These are two powerful assets that society nor my family was able to show me was possible when I was a young girl. I have learned the power of living in feminism, what this means to me, and how it gives me the power to influence all who I meet along my journey.
I am building this organization specifically to reach people in substance misuse recovery, from cultural backgrounds that are under-represented and under served in this society.
Living with feminist and ecofeminist ( a movement combining feminism and environmentalism) ideals in place, conjuring inherent connection to the natural world, and empowering people to recognize their inner power, intuitive energy, and strength is the solid foundation Horticulture For Healing is being built on.
BECAUSE doing/reading/seeing/hearing cool things that validate and challenge us can help us gain the strength and sense of community that we need in order to figure out how bullshit like racism, able-bodieism, ageism, speciesism, classism, thinism, sexism, anti-semitism and heterosexism figures in our own lives.
